Frequently Asked
Questions
Here at Larkins Moving and Delivery, we get a lot of questions because of our years of experience handling residential moves and commercial moves in Florida. We’re more than happy to answer. Part of our job is to educate our clients on what to expect before, during, and after a move. Our goal is to make your move as stress-free as possible.
Here are some of the questions we hear most often.
How Much Will My Move Cost?
Reputable movers shouldn’t “guess” at the cost and then slap you with a surprisingly high bill on moving day. At Larkins, we send a moving professional to your home for an in-person, free evaluation of your moving needs. We then provide a written estimate for your moving costs so you can make accurate financial plans for your move.
Are You Licensed And Insured?
Yes, Larkins Moving and Delivery is fully licensed and insured.
Are The Movers Employees Of Larkins Moving and Delivery?
Yes, all our movers are employees of Larkins Moving and Delivery who have undergone full background checks and drug testing.
Do Moving Costs Change On Moving Day?
No, they should not. The written estimate we provide is a estimated price. There are no “moving day surprises” when you deal with Larkins Moving and Delivery.
Do You Handle Out Of State Moves?
Yes, Larkins Moving and Delivery is a full-service relocation company and moves individuals and businesses locally throughout South Florida, to all points within Florida and throughout the United States (long distance hauls).
How Do I Avoid Moving Scams?
Unfortunately, scams are a problem in South Florida, across the state and around the country. Whether you hire Larkins Moving and Delivery or not, we always recommend that you research a moving company thoroughly. Focus especially on areas such as estimated pricing, the availability of third-party insurance, and proper licensing. Also, check out their reputation as a quality mover (online reviews can help in this area).
Do I Want a Full-Service Mover?
It can definitely help make your move go smoother. A full-service mover offers packing, unpacking, disassembly and reassembly of light furniture (such as beds), safe transportation to locations in all of Florida and across the United States, and storage space if required.
Do I Need Insurance For My Move?
All licensed movers must offer standard insurance at no cost. This insurance is based on weight, not value, and is designed to cover any nicks or scratches, but not meant to replace items. If you want more coverage, keep in mind that movers are not insurers. A quality mover will offer you the opportunity to insure your move through a third-party insurance company and provide you all the information you need to do so.
What Can I Do Before Moving Day?
Some smart pre-moving steps include:
Purge the items you don’t want to be moved Donate food items – you don’t want to fill up space with food that might spoil If you do your own packing, make sure it’s all completed before the movers arrive and ready to go from a central location Make sure there is a clear path for movers to take items from your home to the truck Have list of any items you need to be disassembled before transport Do I Need to Pack Everything Myself?
No. At Larkins Moving and Delivery, we offer packing services if required.
I Have Expensive Artwork, Can Your Movers Handle That?
At Larkins Moving and Delivery, we have experience in moving fragile items, including artwork.
What Can I Do On Moving Day?
Know that some items might not be best transported by movers. This includes pets and plants. Also, at the destination, have a good idea of where you want all the boxes and furniture placed before the movers arrive. This helps make the move more efficient and effective.
Should I Tip My Mover?
Tipping your movers is not required, but it is always appreciated.
